Land of Milk and Honey - C Pam Zhang

An odd foodie dystopian work of climate fiction that left me feeling both bloated and dissatisfied. As the world is enveloped in famine inducing smog, a young woman chef is hired to feed those who live on a mountain, planning their escape into a land of plenty. The book is full of an amazing array of food descriptions, but on an emotional level it was hard to get a grip on. As the chef becomes physically involved with her employers daughter, the story comes to life. Pontifications then bog things down. At meal's end, it was a culinary roller-coaster.
