Bluebird, Bluebird -- Attica Locke
A mystery, but also a study of race, poverty, love and duty in rural Texas. For me,the premise of a black Texas Ranger was, odd, but ultimately believable. As was the intertwined stories of the residents of Lark, Texas. Racism and murder mix with lost and found love, responsibility, and an exploration of self. Darren, the Ranger, is lost, but also may have found himself. An interesting read. The author is from Texas and is an accomplished TV writer. The book read like a TV show, but also went just a little deeper.
