A fast and somewhat disappointing read. I loved "Exit West," but in this novel it was hard for me to feel connected to Changez, the main character. His embracing of the American lifestyle, and then his renunciation, seemed unbelievable. His relation with Erica left me cold. And, his monologue to an unnamed stranger seemed like a literary device to move the action, while leaving the reader disengaged. I knew it was heading to violence, and by the last few pages I was ready for it to be over.
