This novel confused me, but I kept reading. To me, the characters kept making wrong decisions. I found them irritating, but I kept reading. There was something about the story that tugged me along. Roy was certainly "done wrong" by Andre and Celestine, but was that unexpected? Celestine was self-centered, Andre naive, Big Roy was condescending and Davina too willing. Maybe that was the point. Can the worst in us bring out the best in us? An odd read.
