The Dutch House -- Ann Patchett

I have to say I was underwhelmed...not that it was a bad book, it just didn't seem to really go anywhere. Reading reviews, it has been compared to a fairy-tale. And I guess I could see that. Young children abandoned by mother, evil step-mother marries father, father dies, children left to fend for themselves, mother magically returns...I did appreciate the sibling love between Danny and Maeve, but had a hard time caring about much else. I'd like to visit Ann Patchett's bookstore, but not sure about reading more of her books. 2 were meh, but then again, Bel Canto was stellar. (and I really dislike this cover).
