Started rough and ended with a slight touch of sweet, with a lot of pain and cold in between. Butte, Montana in the late 1800's is a brutal place. Tom and Polly come together through cunning and the urge to take advantage and escape. Their story is tough, it's cold outside and inside, and not all survive. Barry is a master of language. He writes beautifully.
