This book leaves little doubt that everyone has something to hide. The twin sisters, Stella and Desiree, become estranged, hide from each other, and in Stella's case, change race. Reese, the transsexual, is transforming as the novel progresses. Early looks for those who are hiding. Jude and Kennedy, the cousins, work to try to figure out who they really are. Everyone in the story is "passing" in one way or another. An interesting read. At times it seemed a little glib to me, but definitely made me think and kept my interest.
