A beautifully written, somewhat disturbing and inscrutable novel. This may be horror story, this may be story about grief, this may be a study of the thin line between reality and insanity. Claire was a very interesting character, the Cuba scenes were wonderfully written, the hints of Florida added to the plot for me. Through all the layers of Van Den Berg weaves, I'm still not sure quite what happened. I think that may be the point. I've read this is destined to be a cult classic, and that could be the case.
