The Sun Walks Down -- Fiona McFarlane

This was a riveting read. I was grabbed by the landscape, the characters and the premise right off the bat. Set in South Australia in the 1880's, it's the story of a missing child and the varied crowd that searches for him amid the backdrop of the mountains and desert of the outback. Denny goes out to gather wood, there's a dust storm and he gets turned around. It's also the story of the family, native trackers, townspeople,  vagabonds, and the vicar that set out to find him....while the sunsets blaze, the fields are waiting for the rain, and the little boy wanders. I truly could  not put it down.
