A History of Present Illness -- Anna DeForest

A short, tough disturbing novel about the life of an unnamed woman in medical school and her training as a student doctor. This is pre-residency and internship. As we come to understand her troubled life, coupled with her experiences in the hospital, a sense of trauma prevails. If you ever had ambitions to become a doctor, this book would probably change your mind. It made me sad for the state of medicine, and uncomfortable for someone who lives a life masking pain. Still, it was interesting.
