Nights When Nothing Happened--Simon Han

If you like to read dysfunctional family stories, than this is for you. There is the hint of violence and something very unsettling about the Chengs. I wish I could put my finger on it, but their personalities seem to slip through my fingers. Liang is disturbed by his mother's death, Patty seems to wish she was in a different life, while the children live in the midst of this confusion. The place of immigrants in society, the role of ambition, the fact that a relationship may always be bumpy all play a part. An odd, well written read.
