Beekeeper of Aleppo -- Christy Lefteri

Sad and haunting, The Beekeeper of Aleppo is an emotional story. The stories of refugees in extreme circumstances are difficult novels. Nuri and Afra have lost their son, their home, their livelihood, their country and in Afra's case, their sight. But, it is the vision of life somewhere else that propels them. I was surprised the author is a woman, as Nuri, the husband, felt to me that he was written by a man. I read through the author notes, which in this book is important, to learn her experience with the refugee situation. And, in the end, I cried.
