The Man Who Came Uptown -- George Pelecanos
If you liked the TV show "The Wire," than you should like The Man Who Came Uptown. Was in the mood for a mystery and this was a pretty good choice, but not terribly engrossing. The library connection, of Anna and her choices of books for prisoners, was a nice piece. Michael Hudson was a believable and savable character. Not so sure about the the other two. Phil Ornazian thought of himself as a savior, but really he was just a flawed and desperate guy. Ward is interesting, but not really fleshed out. Not surprised by the ending, though it was abrupt. An OK read.
