C.C. Borkoski and her dysfunctional family falling apart in Loxahatchee, Fla. are morbidly fascinating. So many terrible and startling things happen to her that it is hard imagine a life this brutal can real happen. It kind of reminded me a little of Where the Crawdads Sing...the question being, why isn't anyone helping her? The father is a drunken loser, the mother is a self-centered philanderer, the sister is a drug addict...and so it goes. At least the cat is taken care of.
