Newcomer -- Keigo Higashino
Finally, a good mystery. Detective Kaga unravels the seemingly unsolvable death of a divorced translator. As he travels through an old-fashioned Tokyo neighborhood, shopkeepers stories, family members, business associates all weave together to give us the answers. I love interlocking stories. This was full of them. The atmospheric feeling of the neighborhood was interesting too. It's a hot summer month, with lots of tastes and sensations. Only a few of Higashino's books have been translated. I would certainly read another.
