Once I realized this was based on the life of Margaret Mead, I felt better about the book. I didn't really like the characters and could not feel empathy for them, but from a historical perspective, it kept my interest. It was a fast read that shed some light on early anthropology before WWII. It bothered me that they all the characters smelled and cared most about their work, not each other.
