For everyone with a local bar that they love, or miss since it's gone away, this book's for you. There is a poignancy to these not quite lost souls, the hard workers and hard drinkers. These kinds of stories make me glad for the people I've been lucky to know, and sad for the way things have sometimes gone. Very close to the edge for me.

Anyway, another book of intertwined stories. If they are all this good, I may stop reading novels.
