Day - Michael Cunningham

A great intimate novel of a family navigating love, success, failure and the pandemic. Cunningham uses a contrived structure for his story that I thought worked well...three sections each on the same day in April over 3 years, 2019, 2020, and 2021. The pandemic falls right in the middle. When I started I wasn't sure I would care about the main characters, they seemed too artsy and entitled for me. But, as I read, I became totally caught up in the trajectory of their lives. A novel of the times and dysfunction, that holds a shimmer of hope.
