A very sweet read. Cathleen Schine says her book is about memories and stories, and that is surely true. As grandson Julian, grandmother Mamie, and caretaker Agnes, live through the pandemic in Venice, CA, Mamie spins out stories of her life. At 93, having lived with composers, emigrated from Vienna, and performed in movies as a musician, her reminiscences are full of characters. Julian, in his 20s, is looking for his calling. Their stores sweetly meld together (maybe a little too sweetly at times), but this was a fun read and a nice distraction.
