What an interesting read. Based on the true story of Kepler’s mother being accused of being a witch, Galchen weaves a contemporary feeling story of gossip, deprivation, illness, intrigue, corruption and family. As you grow to know Katharina and her friend Simon, you know she is not a witch. But, the tales told by her neighbors have an outlandish ring of believability. I would not to have liked to live in Germany in the 1600’s.
