Secrets of Happiness -- Joan Silber

Joan Silber is a master at the art of the interwoven story. In Secrets of Happiness we follow characters whose lives intersect and amble together. Two families are related by their father's indiscretion...two relationships with children while still married to his first wife. There are the mothers, the 4 children, the lovers, and a teenager spinning around this novel, all looking for love and joy in their lives. A good read, but I have to say, by the end I had kind of lost track of who was who. I loved Improvement, this was good, but not quite as good. I would have felt more engaged if I had been able to connect more fully with the characters.
