The End of the Day -- Billy Clegg

Totally engrossing, but not quite perfect. A story of friendship first, family, deception and misunderstanding. Although I was thoroughly drawn in, I still felt some distance from the characters. Lupita's loneliness was the most convincing. Dana, Jackie, Floyd, Hap and Alice all never seemed quite real to me. Their motivations and desires sometimes rang true, and other times seemed far-fetched. Still, it was extremely well-written and was a great read.
