A book that teetered between a breezy romance novel and a serious look at group dynamics, soul searching and love. At first I was put off thinking this is kind of trashy, but as I kept reading I found myself wondering about the characters. Well-written too. Gabel has a lovely turn of phrase. Sometimes a little too glib, and the quartet's contrapuntal thinking may have been a little overdone, but in the end a few times it brought tears to my eyes and I was moved like a good piece of music.
