The Leavers by Lisa Ko

Not sure I can recommend this book. I found the it somewhat unbelievable. The plot was predictable, the story line was shallow and the characters were not fully developed or interesting. A story about refugees, adoption and deportation, that could have really been moving left me cold.

It is so odd that this was on the 2017 National Book Award short-list.
