My Name is Lucy Barton -- Elizabeth Strout
I was expecting "My Name is Lucy Barton" to be a "woman's novel." It was so much deeper and darker than that. I found Lucy's life sad and moving. Her optimism as she was able to escape a cold, poor and scary childhood was uplifting. I also liked the writing style. Sometimes very short chapters make me feel jarred, but in this case, the novel flowed. Glad I gave Strout a try.
