A Flash of Green -- John D. MacDonald
Ahhh, the days of just starting to read John D. MacDonald bring back sweet memories of first living in FL. 40 years is a long time, and all those years later, MacDonald seems relevant, but dated all at the same time. Great character descriptions, in fact they are brilliant. The plot certainly made sense in 1962 when the novel was first published. But, Florida is built on building. MacDonald saw it coming, but he was unfortunately a voice in the wilderness. Jimmy Wing, the main character, is flawed, the bay gets developed and the corrupt developer is a politician. FL all the way.
