Sweetbitter -- Stephanie Danler
I'm a sucker for restaurant novels and this one was quite well done. Sweetbitter, while written in the voice of a 22 year old newbie, does a pretty good job of giving you the feel of what it's like to be "on the floor." I can still remember my feelings of panic at not knowing what to do in the kitchen. However, Tess is somewhat over the top as well. Too many tears, too many drugs, too many secrets. The other characters were as interesting a bunch as you'll find in a restaurant melange. Great book to read on vacation.
