Empire Falls, by Richard Russo
I realized recently that I've been reading about small towns. This expertly put together story about a waning Maine village was right in line. Although somewhat contrived, the story whisked me along. Sometimes I really love these somewhat quirky, modern day, family sagas. And this did the trick.
